Obituary

Kenneth Jerome Hutcherson (HUTCH)

Kenneth Jerome Hutcherson passed away peacefully at Riverside Medical Center, January 1, 2026, surrounded by his mother and sister (Veronica). Kenneth, commonly known as "Hutch" to his closest friends, was born to Leroy and Jorsene Hutcherson on November 14, 1970. He was a graduate of Hampton High School (Hampton, VA) and attended both Chowan College (Murfreesboro, NC) and Hampton University (Hampton, VA). He loved children and was friendly to any child that he saw. He held several jobs over time that included being a Car Salesman, Crew Staff on the Norwegian Cruise Line, Driver for Coca Cola, M. Price Distributing (Budweiser), Pecht Distributing (Coors), and most recently for Monarch Freight Company that transported cargo containers to and from the Norfolk Port Authority.

Hutch had a very enthusiastic adoration and love of life and enjoyed his many friends that he deeply valued and treasured their friendships. In his spare time, he loved playing golf, poker, bowling, boating, fishing, and most of all watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys Football Team. Additionally, Hutch had the most infectious laugh and was always a pleasure to be around.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Jorsene Cooper, sisters, Anita Dotson and Veronica Serbessa, stepbrothers David Jr. (Henri) and Asa Cooper, aunts LaVerne Summiel (Richard), Sherry Ferguson, and Maria Manago. His nieces and nephews, Kamoni Jackson (Kelvin), Tykira Manago, Faith Dorsey, Nicole Sanders, and Dayveon Sanders. His remarkably close core friends include Darren Weitz, Gregg Ellis, Jason Fuller, Kristine DuBois, Jodie Pittman, Mike Askew, Christopher Thomas, David Taylor, Bradley Pranke and Sam Sanchez. He also leaves behind a large host of cousins and friends that are too many to mention each by name.

Special thanks to the Riverside Regional Hospital Staff who spent countless hours caring for our loved one. Additional thanks to Greg Ellis (Jennifer), James Sweat (Denise), Darren Weitz and Jason Fuller for their untiring support during his end-of-life transition.
