Obituary

Our beloved son, brother, father, and friend was called to rest on Friday, May 6, 2022, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Although saddened by our loss, our hearts are filled with much joy knowing that Kevin is at peace with the Lord. Kevin was born on January 10, 1978, in Newport News, Virginia, the youngest son of the family.

Kevin accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Colossian Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia. He loved the Lord and always made it known that he had his NIV bible with him during his private times, which were many. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he often called and asked to listen to Sixth Mount Zion's Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services with his mother. He called many times during the week to listen to Kirk Franklin's Praise station because he enjoyed gospel music almost as much as he loved rap.

He loved sports, particularly basketball, due to his big brother's, Bo Kelly's, influence. He played in youth basketball leagues and; subsequently, became a starting point guard for the Denbigh High School Patriots under legendary Coach K.

Kevin earned an Associate Degree from Hampton University in Aviation Management and furthered his education at Hampton by receiving a B.S. Degree with honors in Business Management with a minor in Accounting.

After college, Kevin moved to Maryland and began work as an auditor for the federal government at Andrews Air Force Base, and there he received his GS-11 work status. While in Maryland, he met and married Tanya Henderson. To that union an amazing son and the love of his heart, Caleb, was born.

Kevin had an incredibly loving and giving spirit; he made friends due to his humor, kindness, and consideration for others. His friends and family have always said that he was a loyal friend, for they could trust him to keep their deepest secrets. We will never forget his infectious laugh that would light up a room and make others join in on the fun. Kevin will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Kevin is survived by his father, James M. Kelly, Sr.; mother, Gayle Hill (Elwood, Sr.); son, Caleb Kelly (mother, Tanya); brother, James "Bo" Kelly, Jr. (Kedra); niece, Mikaela Kelly (mother, Renee); step-brother, Elwood "Larry" Hill, Jr. (Lynsey); step-sister, Tiffany Hill; nephew, Elwood Hill, III; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
