Newport News- Lencar Wayman Clarke, Sr., son of the late Lencar J. Clarke and Celestyne Ingram Clarke, was born in Newport News, VA. He entered into eternal rest on December 20, 2017 at the University of Virginia Transitional Care Hospital in Charlottesville, VA.

He attended Newport News Public Schools and graduated in 1970 from Huntington High School, after which he attended Norfolk State University. Wayman, as he was known by many, was employed with the Newport News Shipyard for 38 years.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Valarie D. Clarke; daughter, Kimberly E. Clarke; son, Lencar W. Clarke, Jr.; brother, J. Harrison Clarke; sister, Leslie Whitney (John); nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home on Thursday. O. H.
