Lillie Mae Whitfield Lyons, 87, went home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Garfield and Katie Whitfield. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Herman L. Lyons. She leaves to cherish her memory devoted daughters, Carolyn Lyons-Smith, Phyllis Lyons Outlaw; granddaughters, Cocheyse N. Smith, Kimberly M. Thomas (Shuntel), Ashley C. Mayo, Danielle N. Mayo; great grandchildren, Shakara and Shuntel (TJ) Thomas; and brother, Robert Whitfield, Sr. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2018 at First Baptist Church East End, Newport News. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Friday. O. H.
