Linda
Linzy
d. Dec 16, 2025
Linda Jean Linzy passed away surrounded by her family at Hampton Sentara Hospital on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Affectionately known as Jean, Linda "Jean" Linzy was born on July 7, 1949, in Newport News, Virginia, to the late Seth and Olivia Linzy. She was a faithful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister.
Linda was a member of Empowered Believers Christian Learning Center. She was a God-fearing woman who enjoyed doll-making, drawing, crocheting, shopping, watching evangelist television, and spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She and her sisters spent hours on the phone, talking, laughing, and telling jokes. She loved the Lord with everything in her, always carrying her anointing oil and never afraid to use it.
Linda attended Huntington High School, Thomas Nelson Community College, and Madame Daniels School of Beauty & Barber School. Her professional career included working at Smith's Pharmacy and as a Home HealthCare Worker and Caregiver. As presented by her former employer: "Linda saved my life numerous times, as she cared for my family for many, many years. She took great care of my daughter and then me. She was solemn, earnest, and loyal and never left a job incomplete. Her work was immaculate."
She was predeceased in death by her parents, three brothers: James Linzy, CoMiller Cooper, and Arthur Linzy; and five sisters: Audrey Linzy, Edna Williams, Dora Cooper, Mary Lewis, and Christoria Linzy.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Gregory (Trina) Jacobs of Killeen, Texas, and Samuel Linzy of Louisville, Texas; one daughter, Sebrina Thomas of Newport News, Virginia; one sister, Della Fox of Newport News, VA; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Linzy of Lanham, MD, and Bertha Linzy of Washington, DC; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and a host of family, friends, and loved ones.
Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025 at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Empowered Believers Christian Learning Center, 3315 W. Mercury Blvd., Hampton, VA 23666. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
