Hampton-Linwood Thomas Gatling, Jr., 57, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.

Linwood was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Gatling and nephew, Aaron Barnes. He leaves behind his loving and dedicated wife of 36 years, Deacon Rhonda Williamson Gatling; two awesome children, Christina Gatling (Jonathan) and Linwood Gatling III (Destini); father, Retired Pastor Linwood T. Gatling, Sr.; 4 siblings, Evelyn Barnes (Daryl), Linda Hunter (Michael), David Gatling (Kasey) and Chester Gatling (Tami); a special mother-in-law, Edith Williamson; favorite brother-in-law, Matthew Williamson; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Bey and Odelle Abramson; 10 nieces and nephews, Kevyn, Joshua, Timothy, Crystal, Kellie, Justin, Issiah, Cedric, Matthew and an extra special niece Mika; two great nephews, Issiah and Jaden; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Linwood also leaves many friends and co-workers from the Shipyard. His close friends that became family would include Morris Harrell, Willie Ward and Rodney Wright just to name a few.

A homegoing celebration will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Third Baptist Church, 1214 Victoria Blvd., Hampton.  Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.  Viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church on Wednesday.  O.
