NEWPORT NEWS - Louis McKinley Johnson, Jr., entered into eternal rest August 23, 2017. He was born November 29, 1948. Louis retired from the City of Hampton after 29 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge 13 of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia Free & Accepted Masons.

Louis was preceded in death by his father, Louis Johnson, Sr. and mother, Josephine Johnson.

Survived by his devoted wife, Portia Johnson; children, Louis "Kenny" Johnson, III of Detroit, Michigan and Keona Boothe of Newport News, Virginia; brother, Thomas "TJ" Johnson (Denise) of Newport News, Virginia; sister-in-law, Ruth Wilson of USVI; grandchildren, Joseph Johnson, Troy Johnson, Elante' Redding, and Ahvyon Boothe; 2 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 31, 2017, 1-6 p.m., at O.H. Smith & Son, 3009 Chestnut Avenue, Newport News. Funeral service will be conducted Friday, September 1, 2017, 11 a.m., at Calvary Chapel Newport News, 361 Beechmont Drive, Newport News. Pastor Joseph Hill, officiating. Entombment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens with Masonic Honors.
