Deacon Louis Tucker, a devoted husband, father, servant of God, and faithful friend, peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on March 18, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on March 15, 1940, in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Beatrice Hardy and James Tucker.

Louis received his education through the Isle of Wight Training School. At an early age, he developed a strong work ethic and a heart of service that would define his life. He later enlisted in the United States Army, faithfully serving his country with honor and dedication.

Upon returning home, Louis built a life rooted in hard work and consistency. He worked as a pipe fitter at Davis Boat Works and later continued his commitment to service through his work as a janitor in schools throughout Hampton, Newport News, and Smithfield. Even in retirement, his diligence and reliability remained evident.

A man of deep faith, Louis was baptized and became a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. His love for God and His people led to his ordination as a Deacon, where he served with humility, dedication, and unwavering commitment. Deacon Tucker was especially known for his compassion, as he faithfully visited the sick and shut-in members of the congregation, ensuring they felt loved, remembered, and cared for.

He was also an active member of the Orcutt Senior Club, where he built meaningful friendships and remained engaged in the community. Louis found joy in the simple but meaningful things in life. He loved gardening and took pride in keeping his yard neat and well maintained. He was also known for his entrepreneurial spirit, often selling items from his truck and connecting with others in the process. He could often be found watching football—cheering on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Above all, he treasured his family and cherished the time spent with loved ones and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Reginald Ferguson; and his siblings, Arcias Tucker, Timothy Tucker, Wilbur Tucker, Sherbie Tucker, Shirley Tucker Morrison, and Willie Tucker.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Bettie Ferguson Tucker; his children, Felecia Tucker and Reginald Ferguson; his siblings, Yvonne Lindsey, Neville Morrison, Harold Ashe, and Carol Purdle; his extended family, Clifton and Angie Moore; and a close and dear friend, William Williams, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church family, and friends.

Deacon Louis Tucker lived a life marked by faith, service, and quiet strength. His legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to God and family will continue to live on in all who knew him.
