Obituary

Louise J. Vann went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2023.  She had a huge heart and her greatest joy in life was caring for people who needed help.  She lovingly cared for many sick family members during her lifetime.  She loved flower gardening and cooking family meals.  She began her work career as a grocery store clerk and later became a bank teller.  She retired from Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company where she was an Accountant Clerk.

She is survived by her daughter Kim Hill and her husband McKindley, her grandson Anthony Vann and his wife Tenisha, her granddaughters Devan Hill and Tara Hill, her great-grandchildren Aliyah Minggia, Jasmine Vann, Anthony Vann Jr., Camryn McCloud, Alexis Vann, Mikayla Taliferro and McKenzie Taliferro, her sisters Doris Nichols and Beulah Cooper of New Jersey, her brother Thomas Earl Cooper and his wife Gail of Georgia, her nieces Renee Nichols, Yolanda Greene and Sedrina (Tyra) Cooper-Kennedy and her nephews Phillip Jennings and Christopher Cooper.

She is preceded in death by her sons Brinston Vann Jr. and LaVerne Vann and her sister Lillian J. Love.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Faith Church of God, 1115 Todds Lane, Hampton, Virginia. Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the funeral home.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
