Lucille Edwards, daughter of Richard and Susanna Edwards was born on October 30, 1943 in Jackson North Carolina.  Lucille was preceded in death by parents Richard and Susanna Edwards and brothers: John, Richard Jr, James, Gurney and Eldridge Edwards.  She attended public school in Northampton County NC.

Lucille became a member of Allen Chapel AME Church, Jackson NC at an early age and remained a member until death.

Lucille was no stranger to hard work.  She started her work career with Colonial Court Hotel in Newport News, Va.  She worked at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co as a Painter for 20 years and retired in 1992.  After retirement she enjoyed her passion: collecting angel figurines, restoring furniture and home decorating.  Her day started with a fresh cup of coffee with her brothers in exchange for them spoiling her, the remainder of the day, LOL.  She spent much of her time preparing and delivering meals to the sick and shut in. There were two things we all knew for sure: 1. Lucille was quiet and soft spoken everyone knew that there was no changing her mind she stood strong on what she believed and 2. Never talk to her while her SOAPs were on.

On Tuesday, September 04, 2023 at 8:59 pm, at Sentara Careplex Hospital, in Hampton, Virginia Lucille Edwards earthly journey came to an end surrounded by family.  She departed this life to be with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Lucille was a devoted daughter, loving sister, aunt, and a friend to all.  She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved siblings:  Linda Boone, Janie Powell, Dianne Murdock, and Marshall Edwards all residing in Virginia, two sisters in law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifetime friends.

Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Edward's Family Cemetery, 885 Bristow Sawmill Road, Conway, North Carolina.  Local viewing will be from 3-6 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Newport News, Virginia.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
