Marilyn Hicks Smith

August 12 1941 - March 2 2023

Marilyn Lorraine Hicks Smith made her transition on Thursday March 2, 2023. She was born in Newport News, Virginia, on August 12, 1941 to her wonderful parents Beatrice and Percy Hicks.

Marilyn was a proud graduate of George Washington Carver High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Jacqueline Jarrett and Sandra Smalls.

She is survived by her two eternally loving children, Hope Wright (Willie) of Newport News, VA; Holly Smith of Atlanta, GA; two step-children Howard Smith (Coretha Rushing) and Miriam Stevens; two precious aunts Doris Diggs and Avis Manley; dear Brother-in-law, Oscar Smalls; beloved cousins Yvonne Brown, Chris Diggs, Monique Diggs, Pam Harrell (James); special sister friends Joyce Bright (George), Jacqueline McQueen, Linda Hamlet, and Selma Spicer.

Funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Cary's Baptist Church in Yorktown, Virgina. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.  Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
