Mary L. Clayton, 95, formally of 2711 Roanoke Avenue, Newport News, VA, departed this life on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Sentara Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hampton.  She was born October 29, 1922 in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Theodore and Jessie Mae Hairston.

Survivors include three daughters, Marion Sutherland of New York, NY, Mary Ellen Ratliffe of Danville, VA and Carrie Haymes of Newport News, VA.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church, 2819 Antioch Baptist Church, Newport News. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday. O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
