We are blessed to be here to celebrate the life and legacy of McArthur Hill, age 77, who transitioned to eternal life on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Sentara CarePlex.

He was the first child born to his mother, Helen Etta Hill.  McArthur, AKA "The Mack" or "Mack" was a  resident of Hampton, VA.  He took classes at Thomas Nelson and Hampton University.  While proudly serving in the U. S. Army as a Meteorologist, he was also awarded a Bronze Star. He also served in Vietnam.  As a civilian, he worked for Bendix as an Electronic Engineer and also worked for the Virginia State Lottery.  He loved his family, Chinese food, children and the thought of having his own family.  He was passionate about music.  He played several musical instruments, keyboard, guitar, drums and the tuba in Carver High School band.  He was part of a singing group that performed at the Moton Theater on Amateur Night.  His playlist includes "Shoe, Shoe, Shine" (The Dynamic Superiors), "We're Going Out Tonight (Cameo)," Love Theme From 'The Godfather' (Chuck Brown), and of course, his theme song "Return of The Mack (Mark Morrison)".

Mack is at peace now and never has to worry about pain again.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory his brother, Randy Hill; sisters, Helena Alston (Galwin), Vickie Dunlap (Ronald),  and Sharon Hill; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2022 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service on Friday.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
