The Journey of Mildred Ann Wilkes-Marriner

Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

Mildred went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 19, 2021 at Riverside Regional Medical Center while surrounded by her loving family.

Mildred was born March 8, 1946 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina to the late Horace and Bethena Martin.  Upon graduating from John Armstrong Chaloner High School she relocated to Hampton Roads where she resided for 56 years.

Mildred was a loving wife and mother that devoted her life to expressing love to family, friends and community.  She loved to praise and worship as a member of Bethel Temple Church in Hampton, Virginia.  She was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for a joyful spirit, unselfishness and zeal humility.

Mildred was preceded in death by husbands, Charles Hardy and Clarence Wilkes; grandson, Darntrell Belle; brothers, Joe L. Martin and Fred L. Martin; brothers-in-law, Floyd Mullins, Charles Nichols, Raymond Wilkes and Collin Daniels.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted husband, William Marriner; sons, Delton Hardy (Vanessa) and Daniel Williams; daughters, Trella Brinkley and Nicole Wilkes; five grandchildren, Drayvon and Arianna Hardy, Darnika Belle, Kwaniqua Fryer (Domminque) and Aliyah Vincent; one great granddaughter, Naveah Vincent; brother, Henry Martin (Bertha); sisters, Emma Mullins, Lola Daniel, Judy Nichols and Brenda Benjamin (John); brothers-in-law, MacKenzie Wilkes, Tilton Wilkes (Cynthia) and William Hardy; sisters-in-law, Bertha Baker, Shirley Wilkes (Abe) and Bertha Harris (Charlie); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Refuge Nation Church, 3509 Chestnut Avenue, Newport News, VA.  Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.  O.
