Milton J. Banks was called home to receive eternal rest by the Lord on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. He was born on April 1, 1964 in Enfield, North Carolina to the late Haywood Banks and Vernell Banks.  Milton was a 1983 graduate of Menchville High School and was employed thereafter in 1983 at the Newport News Shipbuilding.  He worked diligently for 33 years until his health declined and he had to retire on disability.

Milton was a faithful member of Church of Jesus.  Milton was a man who had a wonderful sense of humor and a heart of gold that was shown by helping anyone.  He was highly respected and dearly loved by all and will remain in the lives of those who knew him.  Milton was an avid and faithful "DALLAS COWBOYS" Fan.  He would always say, "What about them Cowboys!"  Milton was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He leaves to cherish his memories three beautiful daughters; Crystal Banks of Hampton, Karen Banks (Ambrose) and Tiffany Banks Kindred (Jamal) all of Newport News; one stepson, Barry Martin of Newport News, seven grandchildren, Kayla, Akira, Donshea, Brendan, Trevonn, Zariah and Imani; three brothers, Perry Cannie of Scotland Neck, North Carolina, Jessie Cannie of Newport News, and Larry Banks of Florida; four sisters, Brenda Smith of Oak City, North Carolina, Martha Hill, Dartha Cannie and Bessie Bell (Reginald) all of Newport News; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Church of Jesus, 630 Anderson Lane, Hampton, VA. Milton's viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the funeral home.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the fa
