OBITUARY

Pamela Michele Jenkins was granted her angel wings on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Walter Reed Convalescent Center Gloucester, Virginia.

Pamela was born to the late Maceo Alphonso Adkinson and Thelma Brown Adkinson on August 28, 1947 in Newport News, Virginia.  She was the third of four daughters born to this union.

Pamela was educated in the public schools of Newport News and graduated from Huntington High School in 1965.  She also attended Norfolk State University for a period of time during which time she developed her business skills.  When she moved to the Northern Virginia area she attended and graduated from the well-known Cortez Peters Business College.

She retired from the Department of Defense, in Washington, DC Virginia after 30 plus years of service.   She became quite knowledgeable about the work in several agencies under the Department of the Army.  After retirement, Pam, as she was called, began working for the Hampton Public School System in Hampton, Virginia and was employed there until her health began to decline. She loved working daily with the children under her care and could relay story after story about how smart those children were.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, 23 ^rd and Jefferson Avenue now First Church of Newport News (Baptist) from birth, until she made a life in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC.  When she returned to the area some thirty years ago, she and her daughter joined Gethsemane Baptist Church, where she and her daughter were active participants in the Church activities and programs.

Pam was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and sister.  We will miss her laughter, strength, humor and her keeping it real no matter what the circumstances were.  She never let anything get her down and was known as a giver, helper and cook.   She wore many hats, but was faithful, committed and a woman of character and integrity to her family and friends.  She was known for being a "listening ear" for all that needed someone to lean on. Her special morning coffee sessions were for anyone that needed someone to listen.  Pam will be greatly missed by all.

Pam leaves to treasure her memory her Son, Tracy Clark; Daughter, Stacy Jenkins; three Grandchildren, Tariq Clark, Arianna Clark, and Brianna Clark; and Sister, Jacqueline Cherry; Nieces: Catrina Rainey, Sharrlyn Byrd, Michele Cherry-Smith, Anita Cotton; Nephews: Sherman Byrd, Floyd C. Rainey, Michael Cherry and Mark Cherry; Several Great Nieces and Nephews; Special cousins: Joyce Allen, Janice Ferguson, Kevin Howard and Terrence Howard; and  a host of other relatives.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at First Church of Newport News (Baptist), 2300 Wickham Avenue, Newport News.  Viewing will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  O.
