Quietly, on Tuesday morning, March 8, 2022 our beloved Pamela Jean Whitaker departed this life at her home in Newport News, VA. Pam, as she was affectionately known, was born September 5, 1955 in Newport News, VA to the late Susie Beatrice "Bea" Berger.

Pam attended Newport News public schools and graduated from Ferguson High School. She was employed with Ferguson Enterprises for the past 17 years.

Pam was a dedicated mother first and foremost.  She treasured her sons and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as grandmother and mother-in-law to the two daughters that she gained. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh.  Pam loved her family and was the "glue" that held everyone together. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and was everyone's "superwoman." To know her was to love her.

She leaves to cherish her memory: A devoted life partner, Willie Black; two loving sons, Corey M. Berger (Jurea) of Newport News, VA and Ahmad D. Whitaker (Tiaquana) of Hampton, VA; six grand kids, Courtney Berger, Khadijah Berger, Tiyanna Patterson, Tahji Patterson, Tashi Patterson and Nazyr (Tez) Whitaker; a beloved brother, Michael Walker  of Hampton, VA; a cherished aunt, Mildred Chapman of Newport News, VA; husband, Darrel Whitaker; three loving grand dogs, Porsha, Bella and Remy; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2022 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 5405 Roanoke Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607.  Viewing will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Friday.  O.
