Obituary

Patricia Annette Ransom was born October 15, 1949 to the late Lester and Malinda Ransom in Garysburg, North Carolina.  She entered into eternal rest in the early morning of February 3, 2020. Tricia, as she was affectionately known, received her education from Northampton County Public School System; Garysburg Elementary and Gumberry High School which she graduated in 1967. She furthered her education at Hampton Institute now known as Hampton University.  Tricia accepted Christ as her Savior at Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church, Jackson, North Carolina.  Then furthering her walk with Zion Baptist Church of Newport News, Virginia where she served as a faithful member until her transition. Tricia went to work at Carolina and Pacific Telephone Company known as Verizon from which she retired.  She also worked at Pomoco car dealership. One of Tricia's favorite things to do was watch her Washington Redskins football team take the field.  Although Tricia never had any kids of her own, she cherished her relationship with her nieces and nephews.  Whether on the football field, basketball court or just enjoying their company, Aunt Tricia was always there to encourage and support them.  Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Malinda Ransom; sister, Blannie Ransom Underdue; brother, Lester Ransom Jr.; sister, Elizabeth Ransom Alston; brother, Leroy Ransom; sister, Winnie Ransom; brother, Ernest Ransom; brother, Raymond Ransom; sister, Bertha Mae Ransom; sister, Barbara Ransom Williams; sister, Jeanette Ransom Alston; also two cousins raised as sisters Mildred Simmons and Marion Garris.  She leaves treasured memories with her brothers, Collin (Mary), Ralph (Janet) both of Hampton, Virginia; and sister, Dozine Moses of Newport News, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Zion Baptist Church, Newport News.  Viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Interment will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2020 in Hampton Memorial Gardens.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
