Paul Carrington Sydnor departed this earthly life on Friday, May 24, 2024, in his home surrounded by family. He was born to the late Willie C. Sydnor , and Pheabie White on December 11, 1956, in Halifax County, VA. Paul joined and was reared in his faith at Banister Hill Baptist Church in Halifax County.  He was educated in the Halifax County Public Schools system, and moved to the Hampton Roads area in 1977, where he was employed at the Newport News Shipbuilding.  Paul returned to Halifax County, and was employed at Burlington Industries and Carlbrook School, LLC. In February 2005, Paul relocated back to the Hampton Roads area where he was re-employed as a nuclear submarine and aircraft welder at the Newport News Shipbuilding.  He retired after 38 years.  He maintained a close relationship and contact with his friends and co-workers, affectionately known as his "Shipyard Buddies ".

Paul was an outdoorsman and athlete. He loved hunting and fishing, and garnered the nickname "Captain" by his brothers and friends. His fishing trips blessed many homes near and far.  Paul loved sports and was known for his skills on the track field.  He played softball with the Sinai boys, and was the captain of his high school basketball team.

Paul entered holy matrimony with Theresa Carden on July 15, 2006. The family later joined him in Hampton, Virginia where the family joined Morning Star Baptist Church. Paul continued to faithfully serve. Paul served as an usher, a van driver, and participated in the Men's Ministry until his health declined. Yet, even after Paul's health declined, he continued to find ways to be a help to the ministry and his community.

In addition to his wife, Mrs. Theresa C. Sydnor those left to celebrate his life are his loving and devoted children:  daughters:  Chanatha Dinia Nettles (affectionally known as "Baby Girl"), Trevia D. Hunt, and Andrea T. Hunt; and son, Andre' L. Hunt, all of Hampton, Virginia; his sisters and brothers:  Bertha S. Bailey, Willie (Shirley) Sydnor , Phoebe Barksdale, Geraldine (Wallace) Stevens , Janie Sydnor, Charlie (Brenda) Hayes;  grandchildren: Christian J. Hunt, Matthias I. Harden, Tobias Z. Harden, and Londyn N. Harden; a host of nieces and nephews; long-time spiritual brothers and sisters: Chris (Brenda) Barber, William (Fran) English, Aaron (Sharon) Beckett, Karon Shields, Dorothy Little, Don Summers; confidant and cousin: Sharon White; father and mother-in-love: Windell and Marilyn Carden; five sisters-in-love and two brothers-in love.

Waiting in Glory are his parents, his sister, Louise Sydnor Ballou; his brothers, Joseph Sydnor aka "Turk", and Harry Lee Hayes; one angel grandson, Jamaal K. Walker, Jr.; and two nephews, John Ballou, and Charlie Ballou.

Paul, who never knew a stranger, touched so many lives and called and treated everyone he knew as family or friend.  Everyone who knew Paul, knew that he loved and cared for them.

Viewing will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 12-2 P.M. at Morning Star Baptist Church in Hampton, VA.  Funeral service will be at 11 A.M. on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Banister Hill Baptist Church in Halifax, VA.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  O.
