Portia R. Pitts, daughter of the late Patricia Hines Davis, was born August 3, 1960.  She departed this life on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA.

She attended Newport News Public Schools. Mrs. Pitts was a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Newport News where she sang in the Mature Adult Choir and served on the Usher Board.  She was a faithful member until her health failed her.

She leaves to cherish her memories, husband of 37 years, Kelvin Pitts of the home; three sons, Shawn Hines of Baltimore, MD, Stephon Hines (Tahnisha) of Hampton, VA and a devoted son, Cedric Hines of the home; 7 grandchildren, Yumaris, Jayvyn and Kamora Hines of Baltimore, MD, Lyila and Liayla Hines of Hampton, VA, Kasey Hines of Portsmouth, VA and NiKyla Williams of Youngsville, NC; brother, Emanuel Hines (Sheryl) of Hampton, VA; stepfather, Leroy Davis of Mesa, AZ; two aunts, Willa Jones of Washington, DC and Linda Carter of Hampton, VA; 3 BFF's, Cheryl Brandon of Newport News, VA, Cassandra Anthony of Hampton, VA and Scarlet Powers of Newport News, VA; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Galilee Baptist Church, Newport News. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Newport News.  Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  O.
