Ramona Lorraine Carter quietly and suddenly slipped into eternal rest on Friday, September 11, 2020 in Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, VA.

She was born on February 19, 1954, to the late Raymond and Rosemary Carter in Newport News where she grew up and was educated in the Public School System.  She attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School, Huntington High School and graduated from Menchville High School in 1972.  Ramona furthered her education at Virginia State University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree, Cum Laude, from the School of Natural Sciences.

Ramona was employed as a teacher with the Newport News Public School System and later joined the United Parcel Service (UPS) where she worked as an International Auditor for more than twenty years before she retired and succumbed to various illnesses.

Ramona accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong, devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church, Newport News.  There she used her melodious voice throughout the years to sing in various choirs.  Ramona also directed the Audio-Visual Ministry of the church and assisted in any capacity to ensure that her talents were used for the uplifting of the church members.

She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.  She also used her talents as a poetess, wood worker, photographer, and videographer to assist others while she was able.

Ramona was preceded in death by her loving parents, Raymond, Sr. and Rosemary, and her brother, Raymond, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory; a friend for more than thirty years, Debi Walters; loving cousins, Juanita, Ernestine and David Malloy; a special friend and neighbor, Marye Glover and family, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2020 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Inurnment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve.
