Rebecca O. Talley Howard passed away on October 10, 2022 in Hampton, Virginia. She was born October 3, 1940, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia to the late James and Albertha Talley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Demaceo R. Howard; 4 brothers, Arnold, William, Ralph, Calvin Talley; and 3 sisters, Geraldine Talley Funn, Virginia Talley Howell and Eunice Talley Godette.

She was educated at Durham Business School.

She married Demaceo R. Howard in August 1960. To this union, 2 children were born.

Rebecca was a beautiful soul that touched the lives of many. She loved cooking and spending time with family and friends. She was a true family historian. She taught us so much about our family history. Those who knew her would describe her as witty, humorous, and committed to her family.  She retired from Verizon after 40-plus years of service. Upon retirement, she relocated with her husband to Hampton, Virginia where she resided until the Lord called her home.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her two children, Dr. Demaceo L. Howard (Yvonne) of Dallas Texas and Yolanda (Howard) Jackson (Eric) of Copley, Ohio; one granddaughter, Alexandra Smith Howard; three grandsons, Vincent Howard and Brandon and Bryan Grimes; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family acknowledges with deep appreciation the many comforting messages, floral tributes, prayers, and many other expressions of kindness, concern, and love during this difficult time. Words cannot express their heartfelt appreciation. Please continue to remember us in your prayers, not only for today but for the days to come.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1319 Country Lane, South Hill, VA  23970.  Interment will follow in Ascension Episcopal Church Cemetery, 3128 Palmer Springs Virginia, Boydton, VA, 23917.  O.
