On Monday, January 27, 2025, Pastor Richard Lee Roberts Sr. passed away at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. Richard was born on August 6, 1948, to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Roberts of Hampton, Virginia.

He received his early education with Hampton City School. Richard was employed at the City of Newport News for 34 years of faithful service and was a dedicated supervisor. Richard was formerly the pastor of The Church of Lord Jesus Christ in Newport News, Virginia. He was a man that enjoyed his family and friends, who left a great imprint on their lives of whomever he came in contact with.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie Mae Roberts and William Roberts and his son, Richard Roberts Jr.

He leaves to cherish warm memories, his wife, Linda J. Roberts; children, Dion A. Roberts, Antoine D. Roberts, Nakita L. Jordan; sisters, Pauline McFarland (Nathan), Sherry D. Avery, Gloria J. Roberts (Rick), Thominice Hargett (Terry), Cynthia Holland, Crystal George, Amanda Green Hawkins, Zena Barton and Connie Boxley; brothers, William Roberts Jr. (Sabrina), Ricky Roberts and Richard Green; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other friends. He will be greatly missed.

Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
