Robert U.
Hunt
d. May 12, 2024
Robert U. Hunt "Bubba", the son of the late Robert Alvin Hunt and Ethel Alexander Hunt was born on March 1, 1943, in Hampton, Va. He transitioned from this life into everlasting life on Sunday, May 12, 2024. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Verdell Hunt, brothers Arthur Hunt and Alvin Hunt. Robert and former spouse the late Margaret M. Hunt had 8 children together. Later, he married the late Mary Hunt.
"Bubba" attended Booker T Washington Elementary School and Huntington High School. Once he finished school he worked as a Pipe Fitter at Newport News Waterworks. "Bubba" was so proud that he worked for the city. He was employed until injury forced him to retire.
"Bubba" was a sharp dresser and had an extensive collection of hats. He enjoyed all types of sports, but was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also enjoyed watching westerns and boxing. Watching Muhammad Ali with his boys brought him a lot of joy. A lover of good soul music he would often make his children sing and dance to entertain his friends. And so as we bid farewell to you "Bubba" we leave you with your favorite saying; "10-4"
He leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Duane Hunt, Sr. (Cecil), Robert Hunt (Adrienne), Timothy Hunt, and Clarence Hunt, three daughters, Tamara Hunt (former son-in-law Shelton Harris), Pamela Hunt-Hockaday (Herbert "Duke" Hockaday; deceased), Vernell Hunt, brothers, Jeremiah Hunt, Clarence Hunt (Thelma), Darlene Archer, Anita Woodard (Keith), one sister-in-law, Betsy Upshur, one aunt, Esther Terry, 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 step-children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including his best friend Irvin Major (Thelma).
