Robert Powell, affectionately known as "Jack" by family and friends, departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 in Riverside Regional Medical Center.

He was born December 22, 1950 in the city of Newport News where he also received his formal education. He was gainfully employed in construction work, brick masonry, and highway maintenance throughout the state of Virginia.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Jacqueline Jones, Cassandra Johnson (Perry), and Kenneth Allen; two sisters, Elizabeth Jefferson (Ellis O) and Joyce Ward; two brothers, Robert Lee Powell (Carolyn) and Burt A. Woods; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing on Friday, December 29, from 3 to 6pm at O. H. Smith and Son Funeral Home.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 30 at 11am at New Life Church, 1525 Power Plant Parkway, Hampton.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
