Rochelle Lana Eley Waller was promoted from her temporary dwelling here on earth to her eternal home in glory with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 13, 2024.

Rochelle was born in Newport News, Virginia on November 1, 1941 to Alfred Eley, Jr. and Evelyn Eley. She was the oldest of two children that were born to this union.

She married Garland Waller at the age of 20.  They moved to Bronx, New York in 1963.  She lived there until she moved back to Newport News, Virginia.

Rochelle retired from the federal government where she worked with the Social Security office after 35 years of service.

Rochelle accepted Christ as her personal savior and she was baptized at First Baptist Church East End, Newport News Virginia.

Rochelle was an avid traveler.  She went to Hawaii, California, Bermuda, Jamaica, Virgin Islands, Italy, Paris, Holland, Venice, and Barbados. She loved playing bingo, gin rummy, listening to music by Johnny Taylor, Marvin Gay, and Harry Belafonte.

Rochelle leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Alfred Eley (Marie); two daughters, Keisha Waller and Pamela Rogers; four granddaughters, Charion Waller, Ishauna Wallace, Kayla Wallace and Roniya Rogers; one niece, Felicia Eley; five first cousins, Sabrina Fauntleroy, Gilda Brown, Portia Taylor, Kenneth Fauntleroy, and Tyrone Fauntleroy; a lifelong friend, Eddie Clanton; and four lifelong best girlfriends, Carole DeRouen, Josephine Morris, Jackie Maxwell and Wilma Taylor; along with a host of extended family and friends.

Rochelle's family is left with fond memories to cherish.  Per her request, there will not be a public service.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
