Rod's Journey

June 27, 1982 - January 29, 2023

On January 29, 2023 Roderick Leon Ham transitioned peacefully into his eternal life while resting at home with his mom in Hampton, VA. Rod gave much of his heart to his friends and family though his heart was weak.

Roderick was born June 27, 1982 to Hazel V. and Renaldo Ham in Hampton, VA, he was the only child to the Hams'. Rod's father, known as "Ham," preceded him in death on February 20, 2003.

Roderick attended Mallory Elementary, Davis Middle School and Bethel High School all in Hampton. He went on to attend Thomas Nelson Community College and ECPI. Rod graduated from ECPI, and recently received his commercial driver's license (CDL) and was so enthused about driving eighteen wheelers. He and his friends made plans of entrepreneurship, where he would be the Driver.

Rod had a true love for music, he was the founder of UG MUSIC Group. UG MUSIC was a platform he established to highlight local artist and give them a platform to have their musical talents ex-posed. He also started a podcast, that he was very passionate about. He loved to share information about varies topics. He shared his theories, various music, black culture events, relationships, and other conversations he had with friends. Rod was gifted with creativity, he was very artistic, and he designed several logos for family and friends. His creative drawings showed great talent and skill. Rod was passionate in his conversations, and was firm on what he was saying.

Rod, also known to his friends as "Ham," was well liked by his high school friends and maintained close ties to a few of them. Rod was known as "A Good Dude" by many, an honorable title given by the fellas. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved devoted mother and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Viewing will be on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
