Roosevelt Kea was born on October 20, 1943 in Newport News, Virginia to the late Roosevelt Kea Jr. and Seleana Kea.  He entered into eternal life on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at home surrounded by his loved ones.  He is proceeded in death by his brother Morris Kea, sister Jean Burney and granddaughter Shonte' D Preston (Kea).

He was baptized at an early age and attended Christian Union Baptist Church in Newport News, VA.  Roosevelt was educated in the Newport News Public Schools system and went on to dedicate over 43 years of loyal service to the Newport News Shipyard until he became ill. His strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence made him a respected and dependable presence among his colleagues.

Outside of work, Roosevelt was known for his impeccable sense of style and his deep appreciation for cars, fashion, and African American history. He had an eye for elegance and a heart for heritage—always eager to share stories that connected the past to the present. As a proud member of the Bohemian Club, Roosevelt cherished the fellowship and friendships he built within his community.

Roosevelt was a loving and devoted husband and father.  There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for his family and closest friends.  His life was defined by love for his family. He shared over 60 cherished years with his devoted wife, Miriam Kea. Together they had two loving children: Kenneth B. Kea (Jennifer) of and Tesha Stanley (Mustafa) of Hampton, VA. Roosevelt also took immense pride in his grandchildren, Isis A. Kea of Hampton, VA; Kenneth C. Kea and Cornelious Kea of Charlotte, NC; and Amir Stanley of Hampton, VA.  who brought him endless joy and laughter. His legacy continues through his seven beloved great-grandchildren, who were the light of his later years and a source of immeasurable pride and happiness.  He is also survived by two sisters, Eunice Harrison of Newark, NJ, Ida Thomas of Newport News, VA along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Roosevelt Kea's life was a testament to hard work, dignity, family, and faith. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Although my earthly journey has come to an end, my spirit remains with you, my every laugh shared, every story remembered, and every act of love passed down through generations. His life taught us the value of perseverance, kindness, and family. We take comfort in knowing that he now rests in eternal peace, reunited with loved ones who went before him.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2025 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.  Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the funeral home.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
