Rosetta Lipford Needam entered into the realm of endless joy and praise Monday, July1, 2024 at her residence, 801 Main Senior Apartments, Newport News, Virginia.

Rosetta was born November 3, 1941 to her loving parents, the late William Randolph and Pinkey Pearl Lipford.  She shared her life and love with her late husband Thomas Needam, Jr. who preceded her in death July 4, 2018.  Her faith journey began at an early age when she accepted Christ at Mt. Obed Baptist Church, Appomattox County, Virginia.  Subsequently, her life was the epitome of faith, vibrancy, kindness, generosity service and humility.  In recent times, Rosetta was an ardent worker and stalwart member of New Life Church.

Rosetta was valedictorian of the 1960 class from Carver-Price High School, Appomattox, Virginia and she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Hampton Institute (presently Hampton University) in 1964.  Thereafter, she served as a devoted and enthusiastic educator for more than five decades in New York and Virginia. Rosetta's last assignment was Director of New Life Christian School and Daycare for several years.

Her delight was not only in the Lord, but in being a blessing to others.  She delighted in rising early in the morning listening to and singing along with her gospel music as she prepared the most delectable, lavish, delicious and bountiful meals that had the taste of love in every bite.

Rosetta leaves ceaseless memories of love, joy, generosity and laughter. She was sassy and stylish, and the meticulous coordination of her outfits to "always look your best" will be cherished by her siblings Sarah L. Elloitt, Juanita Saunders, Betty L. Pinn (Godfrey), Paul A. Lipford (Christy) and Carla L. Quick (Reginald).  In addition, her genuine love and inspiration, which touched the lives of a host of affectionate nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, will never be forgotten. Rosetta was a second mother to countless number of other's children.

Those who were blessed to know and love her have the assurance that she is resting at the Throne of His glory and will receive her reward.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2024 at New Life Church, Hampton.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to "The New Life Christian School and Daycare Fund," in care of New Life Church—Hampton, 1525 Power Plant Pkwy, Hampton, VA 23669.  Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.  O.
