Obituary

The promise between God and Ruby Stevenson was fulfilled on September 25, 2024, when Ruby began her heavenly journey.

Ruby was the first born on March 1, 1940, in Hampton, Virginia, to the late Charles H. Wilson and Ruby C. Wilson.

Upon graduating from Phenix High School in Hampton, Virginia, Ruby attended Hampton Institute where she received her B.A Degree.  She pursued further studies and also received her Master's Degree from Hampton Institute.  Ruby was employed with Manpower Training Program for Adults in New York, New York. She also taught in the public school systems in both Richmond, Virginia and Newport News, Virginia. Ruby later retired from Richmond Public School System as an Elementary Assistant Principal. She would often refer to her first love
as teaching and educating "the little people." Ruby was a highly respected educator in the school system.

Ruby was a woman of immense wisdom, an unforgettable charm full of love and laughter. Ruby has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all whom were blessed enough to know her. She was a friend to many and her absence has certainly left a void in our hearts. She leaves behind a legacy of Love, Kindness and Warmth.

Ruby was predeceased by her parents, Charles H. Wilson and Ruby C. Wilson; her sister, Barbara A. Wilson; and her husband, Otis Stevenson, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories her nephew, Woodrow Wilson; her bonus daughter, Pamela Y. S. Davis; a childhood best friend, Carol Alston Conner; her devoted caregiver, Donna Murphy; and a host of friends that Ruby treasured.

Ruby Stevenson's family would like to thank Riverside Hospice Team: Melanie, Debbie, Ashley, Ashanti, Gwen, Nicole and Deedra. Each of you were very kind, compassionate and thoughtful as you cared for Aunt Ruby during her illness. Just know, we appreciate you!
