Sallie Bernita Covington Berkley passed away peacefully at Envoy of Williamsburg on August 3, 2018.  She was born in Newport News, Virginia on March 7, 1949 to George Covington and Juanita Stallings Covington.  She was a 1968 graduate of Huntington High School.  In 1988 Sallie graduated from the Job Training Center in Hampton as a CNA and was President of her class.  She worked in the nursing field for several years.  In 1976 she gave birth to her only child, Da'Mon.

She enjoyed cooking and reading romance novels.  Sallie especially loved her grandchildren. She was family oriented and always placed the needs of others before her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her son, Da'Mon Berkley (Tralonda); grandchildren, Cambre, Caeleb and Dei'a; brothers, George Covington, Jr. (Joann), Leslie Covington (Gaynelle), Orlando Covington and Shelton Covington; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Dominion Ministries International, 925 Old Buckroe Road, Hampton, VA.  Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
