Obituary

Sallie Jane Williams departed this life on March 26, 2023 at Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton, VA surrounded by family. She was born to Benjamin A. Williams, Sr. and Annie M. Artis Williams on December 23, 1934.

Sallie was a graduate of Hawkins High School in Warrenton, North Carolina.  Sallie accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Arcola, North Carolina.  After moving to Hampton, Virginia she attended Riverview Baptist/Spirit of Life Christian Church in Hampton, VA where she remained active until her death.

She married Julian Williams and from that union they had four children.  She loved her husband and family and enjoyed caring for others. Sallie enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.  Her specialty was making rolls, chicken salad and feeding family and friends. Everyone who knew Sallie knew that she was a person of integrity and enjoyed helping and serving others.

Sallie is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin A. Williams, Sr. and Annie M. Artis Williams; husband, Julian Williams; brothers, Benjamin A Williams, Jr. and Delaney Williams; sisters, Patsy Williams Gary and Rachel Annette Williams; and grandson, Marquis Bushnell.

Sallie leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, Lawrence Williams, Benjamin Williams and Charles Williams;  daughter, Sallie Williams; special granddaughter, Rachel Williams; granddaughters, Shanikqwa Williams, Charlai Steelman (Kenneth), Shala Williams and Paisleigh Williams; grandson, Alexzander Williams; great-grandchildren, Luka Williams, Soleil Steelman and Sage Williams; special niece, Lovetta Perry; aunt, Willye Artis Lewis; sister-in-law, Dahlia Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, love ones and friends.

Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Arcola, North Carolina. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve her family.
