Obituary

Sandra LaNette West Foy entered eternal rest on Friday, February 7, 2020. She was born on October 16, 1942. She now is reunited with her beloved husband June, parents Clarence and Evelyn Hobbs and her father Edward West.

A lifelong resident of Tidewater, Sandra attended Dunbar and Booker T. Washington Elementary Schools and was a 1961 graduate of Huntington High. She Attended North Carolina A&T State University where she met and married June Malcom Foy.

Sandra traveled with her husband stateside and abroad. Not content to be just an officer's wife, she organized and participated in various causes and organizations in support of the warfighters. She received numerous citations and recognition for her diligent work and for being such a stellar role model to the wives of junior officers.

Upon their return to Hampton, Sandra's embarked on a successful career in real estate. She also became active in her lifelong church Saint Augustine's Episcopal where she was confirmed on November 14, 1954.  There she served on the Vestry, Episcopal Church Women, Samaritans, Senior Warden and many other areas where she demonstrated her exceptional organizational and leadership skills. Sandra was also an active participant in the Huntington High School Alumni activities. She also served on the Board of Directors of EduStar Performing Arts Society of Hampton.

Loved ones left to cherish Sandra's legacy are her daughter, Lady Foy Savage (Thaddeus) of Hampton; son, June Michael Foy (Melanie) of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Danielle Canada (Joseph); grandsons, Trent Bryce Foy, Lance M, Foy, Derek L. Savage and Troy Williams. She is also survived by siblings Cecile Coleman (Calvin) of Swarthmore, PA, Sheila Price of Newport News, VA, Edward West (Marilyn) of Richmond, VA, Michael West (Sara) of Chesterfield, VA, and Sharon Harris of Baltimore, MD. Other survivors include sisters in law, Queen Harris (Frank) of Raeford, NC, Benita Foy (Carl); brother in law, Robert Allen of Fayetteville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 9:30 a.m., at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, 2515 Marshall Ave., Newport News, VA with the Reverend Terry Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.

The family would like to give special recognition and give gratitude to the staff of care givers that worked tirelessly in the extraordinary care and comfort they provided to Sandra. We would also like to thank the staff of Virginia Oncology Associates.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly request that expressions of sympathy will be in the form of contributions to Saint Augustine's Episcopal Church. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
