Sherman
Byrd
d. Mar 15, 2023
Sherman Douglas Byrd, Jr. peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at his home.
He was born on January 3, 1966 to the late Sharon Y. Adkinson Byrd and the late Sherman Douglas Byrd, Sr.
Sherman better known as "Frosty" was educated in the public schools of Newport News and graduated from Menchville High School in 1984. Sherman served honorably in the United States Army as a Field Artillery Crewman from 1988 until 1992 and in the Army Reserves for an additional four years. Numerous Citations and Awards were bestowed upon him during this service to his country.
Sherman's last duty station was in Nuremburg Germany and he lived there for twenty plus years. During those years he was employed with the United States Postal Service in Germany. In his spare time, while living abroad, he also served as DJ Frosty at many Clubs and private events in his city and surrounding areas.
In 2015, he made the decision to return to the United States and was transferred by the Postal Service to the Scranton, Pennsylvania location. In 2018, after the passing of his Mother, he was granted a transfer to the Department of Defense facility at Fort Eustis, Virginia, where he served as a Defense Contract Manager. He was still employed there at the time of his passing.
Frosty was a quiet but loving Brother, Uncle, Nephew and Cousin, but recently he let his family know at his Sister's Birthday Party, that he could also have fun. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in Heaven until we meet him again.
Frosty is survived by his Sister, Sharrlyn Byrd; Niece, Shantol Byrd; Nephew, Shamond Byrd; Great-Niece, Shawnasy Byrd; Aunts, Jacqueline Cherry, Rose Byrd, Lillian Byrd, Sylvia Harris and Uncle, Floyd Rainey and a Host of Cousins and friends.
