"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"

Ecclesiastes 3:1

Heaven has gained another Angel, Shevawn Hines Thompson, the daughter of Clara M. Hines and the late Ross M. Hines was called home on January 13, 2021 after a strong multi-year battle with her illness.  Shevawn was a caring, compassionate, loving and loyal Daughter, Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.  She was authentic and genuine in her interaction with others, you never had to wonder what she was thinking.

Shevawn has the joy of her life, one son, Bryan O'Neal Thompson whom she has planted the seeds to grow and flourish.  She has one granddaughter, Aniya whom she adores.  She shared her love of style and grace with her Sister and Nieces and instilled do not leave the house unless you are "together", Dressed for the occasion and make-up in place...  May her love of family continue to grow through her legacy and all who know her.

Shevawn was a Graduate of Hampton High School and Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  She had innate creativity and her artistic abilities and commitment to thinking outside the box were paramount in her career successes.  She started her career in the Retail industry as Operations Manager and concluded with Met Life as a Manager before moving to Virginia.  She retired as the VP of Research and Development for the Hines Group.

Shevawn was generous with her Time, Talents, and Treasures.  She was always willing to assist others and make a difference with a Servant's Heart.  She was active in her community through the years prior to her illness.  Initiated in March 1977 in the Delta Zeta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc where she served as the President of the Chapter.  She was a natural leader and organized and spearheaded the first Undergraduate Roundup on the campus of Michigan State University.  She continued her active membership with the Sorority and last served in the Lambda Omega Chapter in Newport News, VA.

While in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan she was an active member of The Links Incorporated and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. where she enjoyed serving the community and providing a positive impact on our youth.  Once she moved to Virginia, she transferred her membership with The Links, Inc – Newport News and Jack and Jill of America Inc – Hampton Chapter.  In the Newport News Chapter of The Links, Inc. she served as Vice President as well as Protocol Chair.  It was stated that "she was a very thorough VP who went the extra mile to make sure everything was done in good order and with style and dignity".  Shevawn took pride in doing thing in Excellence and making sure all things are on point and above standard.  She has a unique way of challenging others to reach deeper, to grow, thrive and be the Best version of themselves.

She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of love and service, her son, Bryan O'Neal Thompson; her mother, Clara M. Hines, her siblings: Stephen Hines (Verleeta), Zachary Hines (Katrina), Rosilyn Taylor (Garry) and her granddaughter, Aniya and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.   May you forever cherish Loving Memories!
