Shirley B. Brown, 76, transitioned to her heavenly home at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. A native of Newport News, Shirley was an educator in the Newport News Public Schools system for 30 years, spending over 27 years as a second-grade teacher at Hilton Elementary in Newport News. A faithful and longtime member of First Baptist Church East End, she diligently served on various committees.

Shirley was preceded in transition by her loving husband of 54 years, Madison C. "Quinny" Brown on December 23, 2021, her parents, Frank and Nellie Bryant and six siblings.

She is survived by her two children, Farah and Madison K. (Sherri); three beautiful grandchildren, Kennedy, Madison and Phoenix; sister, Mable Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and church family.

Viewing will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022, at O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service for this Phenomenal Christian Woman will be held at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at First Baptist Church East End.  The service will not be live streamed, however it will be available to view 48 hours after the service on the church's website myfbcee.org and via YouTube/myfbcee.  O.
