Shirley Ann Vaughan passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019.  She was born in North Carolina to the late William Richmond, Sr. and Blanche Richmond.  She graduated from Carver High School in Newport News, Virginia. Mrs. Vaughan retired from the James River Convalescent Center as a nurse's assistant after 32 years of dedicated service.

She was preceded in death by her fraternal twins, Eric and Erica.   She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Melvin Vaughan, Sr., one daughter, Arnetta Elam (Alonzo), sons, Melvin Vaughan Jr. (Clara) and Rodney Vaughan; 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister, Joyce Roberts (Tony),  brothers, Leroy Richmond (Susan), Michael Richmond (Carolyn), Marvin Richmond (Helen), William Richmond, Jr. (Dorothy), and Haywood Richmond (Frances); sister-in-law, Doris Apacatnis a host of relatives and friends.   A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at First Baptist Church Jefferson Park.  Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.  Viewing will be Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Monday.
