CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF STANLEY BOONE
Stanley Boone peacefully departed this life at home in Newport News, Virginia when he heard the Master's call on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 1:34am.
Stanley "Dump" Boone was born October 30, 1931, to the late Linwood and Lois T. Boone, of Conway, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by parents Linwood and Lois T. Boone, and brothers: Robert Len Boone and Rudolph Boone. He attended public school in Rich Square, North Carolina.
Stanley became a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Woodland, NC at an early age and later served in New Covenant World Outreach Ministry, in Hampton Virginia until his death.
Stanley was a man of great wisdom, jovial and no stranger to hard work. He would always greet you with a smile and his home was always open to family and friends. To him life was meant to be simple and sweet, give him a cake baked from scratch and homemade ice cream for him that was a great day. He enjoyed time spent with his two great granddaughters Tiyana and Tamia and Kaoir Morris who she herself adopted him as her "papa". He loved gardening, caring for his lawn and fixing things on his automobiles and things around the house.
In 1956, Stanley was united in holy matrimony to Linda M Edwards and through this Union he was blessed with two children. Stanley was a loving husband for over 66 years and worked hard to provide for his family. He started his work career with the City of Newport News and remained with them for eight years. Thereafter he worked at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, Dept. X32 as a Sheet Metal Specialist for 32 years and retired February 1994. Stanley was a devoted son, husband, father, loving brother, uncle and friend to all. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife Linda of Newport News, Va, two children; son Milton Boone (Sabrina) and daughter Vernet Mull (Louis) both of Hampton, Va. Two grandchildren Neikeybeyo Whitehead (Tina) of Hampton, Va and Charmaine Weston of Philadelphia, Pa. Two great granddaughters Tiyana and Tamia Whitehead of Hampton, Va, four sister in-laws Mable Boone of Conway, NC and Janie Powell of Suffolk, Va, Lucille Edwards and Dianne Murdock both of Hampton, Va. One brother in law Marshall Edwards of Newport News, Va and a host of nephews, a niece, family and friends.
Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2023 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
