Theodore Batten, Jr., 91, unexpectedly transitioned to his heavenly home on September 2, 2021 in his home. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Theodore and Eva Batten, Sr.  When he was 12 years old, his family moved to Portsmouth, Virginia where he was educated.  Theodore joined the military at the age of 17 and served until he retired in 1972.  After retirement, he worked for Anheuser Busch for many years.

Teddy, as everyone knew him, leaves to cherish: his wife, Gloria Batten; sons, Kelvin Batten (Rosiland) of Tulsa, OK and Thomas Batten of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Tess Bunch of Newport News; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, 1 niece, 1 nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
