Obituary

Velma O. Beckett Stubbs went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

She was born in Newport News, VA on May 5, 1935, to the late Wallace T. Beckett and Ada L. Crewe. Velma was a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She was educated in the Newport News Public School system and graduated from Huntington High School. Velma worked in the food industry and was a loving housewife for 56 beautiful years.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Stubbs, and sisters, Brazolia Taylor, Sandra Chavers, Irene Martin and Linda Spencer.

She is survived by one brother, Wallace C. Beckett and three sisters, Messengeir Christian (Melvin), Carolyn Bandy and Otelia Beckett and one sister-in-law, Helen Belle.  She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Hampton Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
