Vernell Christine Hunt, the daughter of the late Robert Ulysses Hunt and Margaret  Marie Murphy Hunt was born on July 2, 1966, in Hampton, Va.  She transitioned from this life into everlasting life on Saturday, January 3, 2026. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Verdell Clementine Hunt.

Christine graduated from Warwick High School in 1985. She worked at AAFES (Army & Air Force Exchange Service) at Ft. Eustis, Virginia for more than 30 years. She loved working with her AAFES family but reluctantly left their employment due to her health challenges.

Christine loved to crochet and was an avid fan of foreign films. She enjoyed talking politics, attending family gatherings and collecting stuffed animals. She confessed Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age.  As a child, she was a member of Providence Baptist Church.  She later joined New Beech Grove Baptist Church where she attended regularly until her health failed her. She never missed an opportunity to share her faith with anyone who would listen. The joy of the Lord was truly her strength.

She leaves to cherish her memory four brothers: Duane Hunt, Sr. (Cecil), Robert Hunt (Adrienne), Timothy Hunt, and Clarence "Tony" Hunt; two sisters: Tamara Hunt (former brother in law Shelton Harris), Pamela Hunt-Hockaday (Herbert "Duke" Hockaday - deceased), two uncles: Jeremiah Hunt, and Clarence Hunt (Thelma); three aunts: Darlene Archer, Anita Woodard (Keith), and Betsy Upshur; three special cousins Patricia Witherspoon, Nadine Davis and Alexander Murphy; one great-aunt, Esther Terry, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and her AAFES family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at New Beech Grove Baptist Church, 361 Beechmont Drive, Newport News, VA  23608.  Viewing will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, Janaury 12, 2026 at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.  Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.  O.
