Obituary

Victor L Hundley Jr, 74, of Newport News was welcomed into the loving embrace of his Lord and Savior on April 18, 2024 in Hampton, Virginia. Known as "Blondie" to his family, Victor was born on June 5, 1949 in Newport News to Victor L. Hundley Sr. and Ernestine (Ferguson) Hundley.

A graduate of Ferguson High School, Victor was a trailblazer in the community. He was the first African American to attend Ferguson High School, where he graduated in 1967 after a stellar football career that ended with him being an All-State selection at running back. A member of St Augustine's Episcopal Church in Newport News, Victor served as an acolyte there until he left for college. After playing linebacker at Virginia State University, he proudly served in the United States Air Force before his career as a general contractor on the Peninsula.

Victor will be remembered for his gregarious personality, bawdy sense of humor, and "creative" storytelling that would have an audience howling with laughter. He loved his family and enjoyed especially close relationships with his nephews Corey, Travis, and Brian.

Victor is survived by two sons, Stephen and Victor III, three sisters, Shelia, Beverly, and Candace, two grandsons, his adoptive mother Valeria, his wife Cindy, a host of nephews, one niece, and his little white dog "Pretty Boy".

A private celebration of life for family and close friends will be held at St Augustine's Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Autism Association. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
