Vonda Brewington, 65, of Newport News, VA, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026 at Riverside Lifelong Health and Rehabilitation Center Warwick Forest.

Vonda lived a life rooted in love, strength, and devotion to her family. She was a proud dedicated mother and grandmother whose presence made a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

Vonda will be remembered for being her unapologetic self, honest, real, and full of humor. Vonda said what was on her mind and had a way with words that people won’t ever forget. She truly told it like it was and people loved her for it. Her authenticity was unmatched and her sense of humor could brighten any room. She had a special way of making others feel comfortable simply by being genuine and true to who she was.

More than anything, Vonda loved her grandchildren. They were her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her love, laughter, and wisdom will live on through them and all who were blessed to know her.

Vonda is survived by her loving son, Jeremy Brewington (Shemiah); grandchildren, Janiya, Skylar, and London Brewington; father, Eddie Brinkley; brother, Todd Brinkley; and a host of other family and friends who will deeply miss her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Brinkley; sisters Tamiko and Towanna Brinkley; brother, Kevin Brinkley; and grandson, Jeremy Brewington Jr.

A funeral service will be held on May 2nd at 11AM at O.H. Smith and Son Funeral Home. A viewing will take place on May 1st from 3PM-6PM at the funeral home.
