Wallace "Gootie" Sylvester Dillard born November 3, 1964 in Hampton, VA., to Wallace Dillard Sr. and Ellen Jean Dillard. Wallace passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024 at Old Dominion Rehabilitation and Nursing in Newport News, VA., surrounded by loved ones.

A 1982 graduate of Bethel High School in Hampton, VA., Wallace established a fulfilling career, initially working at Forrest Seafood. He later worked in construction mastering as a brick masonry and forming lasting bonds with colleagues.

Wallace cherished his free time by cultivating a passion for yard work and gardening, showcasing his natural talent. He also had a profound love for nature and a special affection for cats and birds.

Wallace was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew and Irene Bailey; Jeremiah and Elizabeth Dillard; his brother, Andrew Dillard. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving parents Wallace Sylvester Dillard Sr. and Ellen Jean Dillard; daughter Rhakitta Latai Carter; granddaughters, Essence Michelle and Ebony Irene Carter; two special aunts, Alice Johnson and Claudette Cooke (Charles); and extended family and friends.

Viewing will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2024 at O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Zion Prospect Baptist Church, 408 Darby Road, Yorktown, VA.  Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
