William Edward Hawkins, 72, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at James River Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center, Newport News. He was employed as a Sanitation Engineer until he became ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Hawkins and Paulene Alston.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Pattie Mae Hawkins; three sons, Linwood Lynch (Olivia), William Hawkins and Stanley Hawkins (Jowanda); one step-son, Alexander Hawkins; one sister, Annie Dudley (Major); two brothers, John (Kat) and Glen; eight grandchildren with special grandchild, Stephanie Gilbert; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2017 at O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 3-6 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
