William Henry Yelverton was born Wayne County, North Carolina on August 18, 1943 to the late William J. and Naomi Yelverton. He departed this earthly life and entered into eternal life on April 12, 2021.

He attended Dillard High School in Goldsboro, North Carolina. William joined the United States Army, where he retired as a Command Sergeant Major, after 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond; and daughter, Thea.

William is survived by his wife, Julia of almost 50 years; son, William J. (Barbara) of Youngstown, Ohio; four step children, Morris of Wilson, NC, Doris (James) of Richmond, VA, Jarvis (Dorothy) of Newport News, VA, and Gayle (Clayton) of Hampton, VA; two brothers, Elder Danny (Evangelist Nadine) of Raleigh, NC and Robert of Fremont, NC; one sister, Doris (Dr. Freddie) of Oak Ridge, TN; 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the funeral home.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.  Due to COVID 19 restrictions 50 people will be able to attend the funeral service.  O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
