Willie Parker transitioned peacefully from this life on Tuesday evening May 15, 2018 at the age of 99, 3 months shy of 100, at the home of his son Stephen Parker following a short illness. Willie was born in Greensboro NC in 1918 to the late Edward and Gladys Parker.  Willie worked as an independent painter and locomotive operator for Newport News Shipbuilding.  He was a member of St James United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, and was a former head trustee.

Willie was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years Larrene P. Parker.  He leaves to his memories a legacy of four sons: Stephen Parker (Beth) of Hampton VA, Keith Bowens (Tara) of Bridgewater MA, Kirk Parker of Falls Church VA, and Dirk Parker (Karen) of Hampton VA, 10 grandkids, 22 great-grandkids, 6 great- great- grandkids, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Willie's Celebration of Life Homegoing Service will be held Monday May 21 at 11:00am at St James UMC, 1533 W. Queen Street, Hampton VA 23669.  Entombment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens.

A viewing will be held Sunday, May 20 from 11:00am – 4:00pm at O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 3009 Chestnut Ave., Newport News, VA, and Monday morning May 21 from 9:00am until the hour of his service at St James UMC, 1533 W. Queen Street, Hampton VA 23669.
